Russian sanitation regulations, hygienic norms, maximum allowable concentrations, etc In the Russian Federation there are about 2500 active sanitation and hygienic regulations of several types. The most important among them are SanPiN (Sanitary Rules and Norms), GN (Hygienic Norms), and MU/MUK (Methodological Instructive Regulations).

The regulations are usually adopted by Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being) or by Chief State Medical Officer of Russia. There are currently still active a number of regulations adopted before 1991 in the USSR.
