60th anniversary of historic first human spaceflight!
12 April 2021
Sixty years ago Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome to become the first person to orbit the Earth.
Though his flight lasted only one hour and 48 minutes, it was an historic event that ranks right up there with when the first fish decided to take a step on dry land.
Yuri Gagarin continues to be a model of heroism and dedication for billions of people around the world; he continues to inspire people to take on any obstacle and achieve the most ambitious and noble goals. It is no coincidence that ten years ago, the UN General Assembly declared April 12 as the International Day of Human Space Flight.
